Volunteer Roles and Duties

  • RESOURCE TABLE HOST - Our #1 need. Come to an event, staff our resource table, tell people about upcoming events, direct them to our website, answer questions about our programs, etc. We normally have several resource table volunteer opportunities in any given month. Qualifications: Good listening skills, compassion, passion for helping others, ability to get along with people.

  • OFFICE AIDE – Office tasks such as labeling our brochures and handouts, making sensory strips, and other sporadic activities. These things can be done at the Foundation office or, often, at your home. Qualifications: Ability to handle repetitive tasks.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA ADVOCATE - Help amplify our messages about mental wellness and suicide awareness and prevention by commenting on and sharing our Facebook and Instagram posts weekly.

FAQs

How many hours and how frequently will I be volunteering?

Resource Table Host - most events are between two and six hours. We split shifts for the longer events; for example, a six-hour event will be split into two three-hour shifts. The Foundation resource table was at 43 events in 2022.

Office Aide - Office tasks such as labeling our brochures and handouts, making sensory strips, and other sporadic activities. Takes a minimum amount of time and effort.

I’d like to help The Sarah Michelle Peterson Foundation, but I don’t have a lot of time, energy, or money. How else can I help?

  • You can be an Ambassador for us! If you can’t attend an event, you can:

  • Connect us to people who might be interested in our programs: Schools, Scout Troops, Teams, Offices/Businesses, Youth Groups, Mentors, Churches, Professional Associations, any group interested in learning about mental health.

  • Connect us to possible supporters and donors: Individual donors, Corporate sponsors, other

  • Send people to our website, www.WorldWithoutSuicide.org

How many volunteers do you need? The more, the merrier! We currently have a small pool of active volunteers, but we want to grow that number. We need volunteers year-round, even during the summer months, as many people go out of town. 

Our busiest times of the year are fall and spring, when we recognize Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month and Mental Health Month.
